Scale Zoom documentation

Version of 30 September 2026.

This page is the user guide for connecting Zoom to Scale. It is not a marketing page.

1Connect

In Scale open Settings → Account → Zoom and press Connect.

Zoom will ask you to authorise Scale. The published app is approved for these OAuth scopes:

  • user:read:user
  • user:read:token
  • user:read:zak
  • meeting:read:meeting

After you approve, choose where new Zoom calls should land: inbox, a project, a department, or a CRM card. You can leave the destination empty — the recording then goes to the inbox.

2Install from the Zoom App Marketplace

You can also install Scale from the Zoom App Marketplace. The app is unlisted: open it from the link your administrator or Zoom shares.

Zoom sends you back to Scale with an authorization code. Scale does not use that code. A code that did not start inside Scale is not tied to your Scale user, so accepting it could attach the wrong Zoom account.

What happens instead:

  • If you are already signed in to Scale, we open the normal Connect Zoom flow. Zoom usually approves it immediately, because you just authorised the app. Zoom is then linked to the Scale user and workspace you are signed in to.
  • If you are not signed in, Scale asks you to sign in. After you sign in, the same connect flow runs and links Zoom to that account.

Connect Zoom on Settings → Account is unchanged.

3Reconnect

If the Zoom card says Reconnect Zoom, press that button. It starts the same OAuth flow again. The destination you already chose is kept.

Until you reconnect, the bot cannot join meetings. Reconnect when Scale asks for a scope it did not have before (for example user:read:token).

4What happens in a meeting

When the connected Zoom user is already in a meeting, Scale sends a visible Meeting SDK participant named «Scale» from Scale's own server. Everyone in the meeting can see that participant.

Mixed audio is captured on that server, then transcribed through Scale's existing calls pipeline (Replicate). The call appears with a Zoom badge in the destination you chose.

This is not Zoom RTMS and not Zoom cloud recording. Scale does not use the Zoom Developer Pack.

Scale receives only these Zoom events: meeting.started and meeting.ended.

5When the bot can join

The bot can join only while the Zoom user who authorised Scale is already in that meeting (On-Behalf-Of). Meetings that user is not in are not recorded. Scale does not join other people's meetings on your account.

When the authorising user leaves, Zoom ends the SDK session.

6Disconnect

Open Settings → Account → Zoom and disconnect. Scale stops using the stored tokens. Calls already captured stay in Scale on the terms of the Privacy Policy.
